Making one clip is a different job from taking a whole script to screen. A feature has dozens of scenes, the same character appears across many of them, and the same room comes back again and again. If a face changes between scenes, or the same office renders as a different space every time, the footage will not cut together. HFLUX is built to deal with that at the script stage.
For a short you can start at SCENE directly. STORY is the step that keeps order and progress straight when a script has many scenes.
The STORY step splits the whole script into scenes first. It detects standard scene headings, and this step runs on text parsing rather than an LLM, so it costs 5 credits per detected scene.
Detection keys off standard screenplay headings such as #1., INT, EXT, and SCENE N. If there are no headings you get a notice that no scenes were found, and nothing is charged. Files can be txt, pdf, or docx up to 25MB each, with no limit on length. The resulting scenes appear as cards you can search and filter by status.
No. The SCENE step keeps dialogue, action lines, and scenes verbatim while splitting them into video shots. It does not rewrite, summarize, or adapt your text — it only adds production information such as shot size, lighting, and generation prompts.
This matters in practice. A screenplay is already the product of many passes, and if a tool quietly reworks the lines you have to re-approve everything from scratch. Because SCENE leaves the locked script alone and layers production data on top, you can check the generated shots against the script line by line.
Generate a character sheet first and it is automatically referenced in the first and last frame of every following shot, keeping the same person throughout.
Three mechanisms work together.
Shots that share a slugline lock the same spatial description, so they render as the same space. Only the camera angle and blocking change while the set stays put.
The first image made in a location automatically becomes the master plate and is attached as a reference to later shots there. Edit the spatial description and every shot in that location follows. Day and night in the same location are tracked separately. Locations you use often can be saved to the location library and pulled into other projects.
Set the video model to Seedance 2.0 and turn sound on, and shots with dialogue are generated with lip movement synced to the line.
Up to 2 lines are injected per shot. If the dialogue is long or dense the generation may be blocked, and credits are refunded automatically in that case. Shots without dialogue are automatically kept from picking up stray speech, leaving only the ambience of that scene.
Up to 15 seconds. Longer scenes are split into multiple shots automatically during breakdown.
Valid durations differ by model, roughly 4 to 15 seconds, and are clamped to the range of the model you pick. Duration can also be set per shot.
Scene splitting costs 5 credits per detected scene. Shot breakdown and generation cost 30 credits per shot, or 50 on the master engine.

Yes. Draft on cheaper engines at lower resolution to review the flow, then raise the engine and resolution and regenerate the same scenes at full quality.
This is the order most people work in. Video generation is the expensive step, so the board is built to confirm the still image first. Sort out cut order and timing on the draft pass, then push to final quality. Only the aspect ratio is locked after the first generation, to keep all shots consistent. Editing, moving, inserting, deleting, or splitting shots leaves already-generated images and video intact.
The STORY scene list is not saved automatically. Use "save all" to write it to a JSON file and the library, then load it later and continue.
Scene cards carry a badge once they have been sent to SCENE, so you can see how far you got. When you move to the next scene, resetting the board clears references and results so nothing bleeds over from the previous one.
